A Brief History About The Show The Sopranos

The Sopranos is a HBO fictional television drama that began airing in the year 1999. The show’s creator is David Chase.

The story is about the Mafia family in New Jersey and to a certain degree it is also about the Mafia family in New York. These two families have always been at war with each other, but in recent times, they have been living peacefully with one another. However as the season of filming ended it left us with the two families at war with each other once again. They have been beating up on each other, killing each other and they have also been blowing up each other businesses.

In addition to that the New Jersey family has been fight with each other, killing each other, betrayal by crossing over to the FBI side and constant unfaithfulness within marriages. However, there is faithfulness and loyalty in friendship, loyalty in businesses and love that is hard to explain.

The Soprano is intended for an adult audience due to its language, violence and drug use, just to name a few.

Five seasons of filming has been aired since it first begun and in June 2006 the first half of the final episodes ended. The final nine episodes of the show are schedule to be broadcast on HBO beginning on the 8th April 2007. It will run for about 51 minutes.

Just to mention a few of the cast, there is James Gandolfini, Edie Falco and Annabella Sciorra. There is also Aida Turtuno, Drea De Matteo and Michael Imperioli.

The boss of the New Jersey family is Tony Soprano and he is married to Carmela and they have two children Meadow and Anthony Sr. Tony, like his father and now his own son suffers from anxiety attacks which results in them fainting. In order to deal with the attacks, he is seeing a therapist, Dr. Jennifer Melfi, who he is also attracted to.

Carmela, one day decided that she had had enough of this way of life and left Tony, but she realised how much she loved him after he was shot and fighting for his life.

Meadow is focus on her future, which does not include following the Mafia way of life.

AJ, Tony’s son has been causing his parents constant worry. From smoking drugs on the day of his confirmation, to driving and then crashing his mother’s car. He is now involved with an older woman who also has a child.

There is also Christopher who is Tony’s cousin by marriage, but he treats him more like a nephew. Christopher enjoys writing screen plays and on occasions have helped Tony to discard of corpses. There is Phil Leorardo from the New York organisation who is not crazy about Tony at all and Little Carmine who wants to take over as boss of the New York business.

This action packed, thought provoking and highly entertaining show has been hailed by many to be groundbreaking.
